Erin kindly supplied me with these photos the very same day as the party. What can I say? Maybe I should make myself walk the plank.
This sweet girl wanted a Jake and the Neverland Pirates Party. I appreciated the fact that we got some more use out of her Izzy costume and all the red and black things from Sophie's Mickey party. Her other special request was a pinata.
That sucker was filled with pounds and pounds of chocolate gold coins, rolos, and hersey nuggets.
The kids all got a drawstring backpack to hold their loot.
And Pirate-y attire. Aunt Julie even tatted them up.
I braved making a cake again this year but had cupcakes as a backup in case my cake didn't turn out.
As long as you don't look too closely, it turned out just fine. It might have seemed like they were on rough seas but almost none was left over, so it must have been ok.
The kiddos could color and decorate pirate hats while we waited on everyone to get there.
I made a Captain Hook ring toss game and Andy made the Walk the Plank game. When it was time to eat we moved the board out of the way and used the water as a picnic blanket. I had sack lunches made for the kiddos, Fish (shaped pb&j's) and chips. It was the perfect way to feed a bunch of kiddos inside without making a mess.
Walking the plank was a little too easy for them, so we added throwing cannonballs at them into the mix.
There were pirate photo ops:
Lots of presents:
And then we braved the soggy yard to take a whack at the pinata and to dig for treasure.
Andy took great joy in manning the pinata. He was determined to make them work for it:
Aunt Gin intervened after a few rounds:
Then they moved on to digging for buried treasure:
Sophie thought the sand was the treasure:
Porter wasn't interested in treasure at all:
Happy Birthday, Kinley!
